I am a boat owner
You can create a Boat Rntal account simply and free of charge.
Start by clicking on Register at the top right of your screen.
You then have 3 options :
- From a Facebook account; your profile data will be automatically imported from your Facebook account.
- From a Google account (Gmail).
- From an email address; you will have to fill in your profile information directly on the platform.
You will then have to complete your profile information in order to rent your boat on Boat Rental.
Once your registration is complete, a page to update your profile will open. You can access it later by clicking on your profile picture, and then on "Profile".
Your profile on the Boat Rental platform allows you to be identified by other members of our community. We recommend that you take the time to complete your profile (contact information, nautical CV, profile photo, IBAN). The more complete your profile is, the more confidence it will inspire and the more booking requests you will receive.
Finally, it is necessary to verify your e-mail address via the e-mail you will receive.
Your personal details are not exchanged on the platform. The tenant only has access to your contact information once the booking has been validated.
Please do not worry, paying our boat owners is one of our top priorities!
If you are a private owner, Click&Boat makes your payment the day after the first day of your rental.
Please keep in mind that Click&Boat initiates bank transfers:
- Mondays and Thursdays from the 1st of October to the 30th of April
- Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from the 1st of May to the 30th of September
You will be notified by email when your payment has been sent. The time it takes for you to receive your money in your account varies depending on your location and your bank. As well, public holidays and weekends may therefore affect the time it takes to receive a payment transfer.
If you are a professional owner, you will receive payment for your rental according to the payment terms you agreed on with Boat Rental when validating your account as a professional, except for one-day rentals which are paid the next day.
In the event that the payment has not yet appeared in your account, make sure you have entered your bank details correctly in your Boat Rental account.
To do so:
- Click on your "Profile",
- Then click on "Bank details".
- Fill out your bank details and the transfer will then be made automatically the next day (excluding weekends and public holidays).
Likewise, if you have a new IBAN, remember to update the bank details on your account.
Finally, if you have carried out all these checks, and you still have not received your payment, please contact us via our contact form.
A booking fee and a commission are applied to each rental.
The booking fee is paid by the tenant and represents a very small percentage of the total rental amount.
The commission, on the other hand, is paid by the owner. The commission is a percentage of the rate displayed on the website. This percentage depends on the agreements made between Boat Rental and the owner.
The rate displayed on the site (the price paid by the tenant) is the rental rate, which includes the booking fee and the commission.
These fees are Boat Rental's income and allow us to provide all the services that our users benefit from.
Thanks to this income, Boat Rental :
- Develops the platform and the application, improving the quality of our tools every year thanks to the many developers who work on the site and the application;
- Pays the support teams for bookings and listing management, who are available 7 days a week during the high season and communicate in 5 different languages;
- Pays for bank transaction fees and text messaging;
- Pays for offices and running costs;
- Pays for advertising costs that give us worldwide visibility. They allow owners to be visible to hundreds of thousands of tenants but also allow tenants to have access to thousands of boats.
Boat Rental is a US company that pays its VAT and charges in Delaware. By creating more than a hundred new jobs in 2022, and by giving dozens of young people the opportunity to have their first experience in a company every year, Boat Rental is contributing to the dynamism of employment.
Taxes... not easy to find your way around but don't worry!
What are your obligations when you rent your boat ? Below you will find detailed explanations that may be useful to you as an owner on Boat Rental. This information is provided based on the information currently available and in effect as of February 7, 2019.
If, after reading these elements, you still have questions, we recommend that you contact your tax office.
Income tax return
Do you have to declare your income when you rent your boat?
Yes, from the first euro. When you rent your boat on platforms, the income you receive is taxable and must be declared to the tax authorities as part of your annual tax return.
The following article published by the information service of the Ministry of Economy and Finance provides more information.
Where can I find the details of my Boat Rental income?
In your owner's account, you can access the summary of your gross income generated via the platform. The amount of this income is to be reported according to the specific procedures of the tax return.
What is the tax regime applied to the rental of goods on Boat Rental?
You can choose between several tax methods, depending on your income levels. Nevertheless, the method known as "micro-BIC" is, in the opinion of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the "simplest method and the most adapted to occasional rentals".
You can benefit from the "micro-BIC" regime if your annual income is less than 70 000€, you then benefit from an automatic flat rate deduction of 50% on your income.
Another option is to declare your income under the main tax method. However, the real method is more complex and more adapted to professional activities.
This method allows you to declare your income by deducting the amount of your expenses related to your boat. However, it imposes certain accounting constraints such as the obligation to declare and pay VAT.
To learn more, we invite you to consult the summary sheet of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, on the declaration of income from the rental of goods, and the two methods concerned.
How much tax will I have to pay if I declare my income as "micro-BIC" ?
It all depends on the income you generate via Boat Rental Website. Here is the example of an owner renting their motor boat occasionally on the platform:
- Mike earns €2000 by renting their motorboat occasionally
- They automatically benefit from a 50% tax deduction, and pays taxes on 50% of their gross annual income, at the rate determined by their tax bracket
- If Mike's tax rate is 14%, this is equivalent to : (2000 x 50%) x 14% = 1€40 of income tax
- If Mike's tax rate is 30%, this is equivalent to (2000 x 50%) x 30% = €300 of income tax
Do I have to pay social security contributions if I rent my boat ?
This depends on the nature and frequency of your activity as well as the income you generate. As explained by the URSSAF or the Public Service and Social Security portal, social contributions are only due when your income exceeds €8105 per year.
You will find more information on your possible social obligations in this summary sheet.
Am I concerned if I rent out my boat as 'co-navigation' ?
Income not intended to earn money but to share expenses is not taxable, which means that the amounts received do not have to be declared to the tax authorities.
You must add your IBAN to your Boat Rental account.
In order to do that:
- Go to "Profile",
- Click on "Bank details" and,
- Enter your information in order to receive payments for your bookings.
- Fill in your IBAN and BIC code and click on "Save".
Our owners' payment is a priority!
If you are a professional owner, you will receive payment for your rental according to the payment conditions you defined with Boat Rental when you registered as a professional.
However, please note that all one-day rentals are paid after the rental.
Please keep in mind that Boat Rental initiates SEPAÂ bank transfers:
- Mondays and Thursdays from the 1st of October to the 30th of April
- Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from the 1st of May to the 30th of September
Boat Rental initiates NON SEPA bank transfers on Tuesday.Â
You will be notified by email with regard to the payment being made. The time it takes to receive the money in your account varies depending on your geographical location and your bank, however, this is usually within 2 to 5 working days; bank holidays and weekends can therefore affect the time it takes to receive a payment.
How much will I earn per rental?Â
As an owner, you set the price of your rentals on the platform using the 'edit' tool on your listing.
To find out how much you will receive, simply deduct the Click&Boat commission percentage from the price displayed on the site, which is 20% (unless otherwise agreed).
In the "Price" section of your listing, the tenant's price and the net amount you will receive are displayed.
This percentage of commission is fixed and remains the same whatever the amount of the rental. It is calculated on the boat rental price, excluding insurance and possible options.
Furthermore, if a tenant benefits from a promotional code offered by Boat Rental, your net income is not affected.
The promotional code is only valid on the Boat Rental commission.
To evaluate your rental income, we have provided you with a Simulator.
When is the commission deducted?Â
The commission is applied as soon as a booking is confirmed.
When the tenant makes a booking, either directly from the page of your listing or via a personalized offer sent by message, the total tenant amount displayed includes the commission. It is therefore the gross rental amount. The net amount is the amount you will receive, i.e. the gross amount minus the commission.
Where can I find the commission invoice?Â
You can download the invoice for this commission at any time from the "My Bookings" section (and from the section "History" under My Bookings, if the rental has already happened).
This invoice shows the amount of the Click&Boat commission, including VAT.
To verify your e-mail address, click on the link displayed in the confirmation e-mail you received when you created your account on the platform. If you can no longer find this message, ask for a new confirmation e-mail to be sent by clicking on "Start verification" in the "Profile" section.
If you have any difficulties validating your personal details, do not hesitate to contact us via the contact form.Â
You can change your email and phone number at any time from the "Profile" section of your account.
First of all, for any specific question concerning your tax return, we recommend you to contact your tax administration, which will answer your request as well as possible, whether you are an individual or a professional.
Yes, you have to declare your income, and this, from the first euro.
When you rent your boat on platforms, the income you receive is taxable and must be declared to the tax authorities as part of your annual tax return. As a reminder, this declaration is independent of the withholding tax .
We advise you to report your rental income related to the rental of one or more pleasure boats in your annual tax return, in the category of Industrial and Commercial Profits.
Boat Rental provides you with the total of your annual income at the end of the period, so that you can obtain the amount of payments to be declared per year.
You will find this total in your account by clicking on "My Reservations" and then on "Download the summary".
What about co-navigation (rental between individuals with a captain)?
Income not intended to earn money but to share expenses is not taxable, which means that the amounts received do not have to be declared to the tax authorities.
In short, within the framework of a strict sharing of expenses, the income is not taxable (see carpooling).
The co-navigation activity falls within the framework of an expense sharing and you are not obliged to declare the generated income.
On the other hand, if your activity results in income of more than €3000 per year and/or a number of co-navigation of more than 20 per year, you will have to declare this income.
Under which tax regime should I declare my income ?
The most general system is the Micro Bic system (income less than 70,000 euros per year), in this case, you can benefit from a flat rate deduction of 50% on your income.
Otherwise, you can declare the real (used by Professionals) who declare each euro of charge.
This system allows you to declare your income by deducting the amount of your expenses related to your boat. However, it imposes certain accounting constraints such as the obligation to declare and pay VAT.
